GOSSIPING

(Proverbs 26:17-26)
1. People spread gossip to be noticed and to gain attention. Gossip is an evil habit.
2. When a person gossips, he deceives and slanders another person while pretending to be a good sport and friend. The “gossip” is as dangerous as an insane person with a gun. (Prov. 26:18-19)
3. Where there is no gossip, there should be no tension. (Prov. 26:20)
4. Gossip hurts as bad as a wound. (Prov.26:22)
5. A person who hates another person will inevitably gossip about him. (Prov. 26:24-25)
6. If a person opens a conversation with you in order to gossip about your friend, what can you do? Don’t answer him. Don’t tell him what he wants to hear. (Prov. 26:4)
7. Gossipers are not very intelligent. They tell everything they know. (29:11)
8. According to the Bible: If you listen to a gossiper, you are just as wicked as he is. (Prov. 17:4)
9. Idleness may promote a person to gossip, just to have something to do! (I Timothy 5:13)
10. To gossip is to bear false witness! (Matthew 19:18)
11. Christians should never be guilty of gossip! Gossip is the opposite of godliness! (Prov. 16:27)
12. Gossip can break up good friends! (Prov. 16:28; 16:30)
13. Be careful who you trust your innermost secrets with. Better make sure he is a God fearing Christian! (Prov. 11:13)
14. Warning: Everything we say and do will be revealed when we stand before God! (Luke 12:2-3)
15. We should stay away from people who meddle in other people’s affairs and with those who use excessive flattery! (Prov. 20:19)
16. Would you want to have a reputation as a gossip, when a good name is better than silver and gold! (Prov. 22:1)
17. Parents should never gossip, because their children will imitate them! Parents need to train their children at an early age not to gossip! (Prov. 22:6)
18. In the end, the “gossip” loses friends, love, and respect for himself and from God! He has no one to blame but himself! (Job 15:6)
19. A gossiper’s pastime is to meddle so he will always have fresh gossip to pass on! (Prov. 20:3; I Tim. 5:13; Prov. 10:14, 21)
20. Gossip is wicked, mischief and sin! (Prov. 13:17)
21. We are commanded not to gossip! (Levíticas 19:16)
