LECCIÓN 3

MÁS ALLÁ DE LO ORDINARIO

2 Reyes 5:1-3, 8-14

Un hombre visitaba un pequeño pueblo y conversaba con el alcalde. Le preguntó: "¿Han nacido alguna vez en esta ciudad personas importantes o famosas?". El alcalde respondió: "No, en esta ciudad solo nacen bebés ordinarios. Pero ha habido algunos que han alcanzado la grandeza".

Dentro del corazón de cada hombre y mujer que Dios ha creado reside un mundo ilimitado de posibilidades. Cuando Dios crea, lo hace bien. Cuando Dios te creó, te creó bien y con un gran potencial. Los expertos afirman que la mayoría de las personas usan aproximadamente el 5% de su cerebro. El 95% restante permanece sin usar durante la vida de una persona normal. ¡Gran potencial, poco o ningún resultado! La gente común vive vidas comunes, hace cosas comunes y mueren muertes comunes, sin cambios ni alteraciones. ¡Qué aburrido!

Una de las razones por las que Dios no quiere que seamos gente común es porque a nadie le interesa seguir a personas comunes. La gente no presta mucha atención a lo común. La prensa no escribe sobre lo común. No se escriben libros sobre lo común. No se hacen películas sobre lo común. Jesús dijo que debemos ser la sal de la tierra. En otras palabras, debemos añadir sabor, ser diferentes e ir más allá de lo común. Lo común, como diría Jesús, es como la sal que ha perdido su sabor.

Una de las peores cosas que pueden pasar en la vida sería estar en tu lecho de muerte y darte cuenta de que no has hecho ninguna diferencia en la vida de nadie. Dios desea llevarte más allá de lo común. No hace mucho, alguien me preguntó: “Hermano, has pasado por tantas cosas a lo largo de los años, ¿alguna vez has considerado conformarte con lo que Dios ha hecho a través de ti en tus 50 años de ministerio, y jubilarte para vivir como una persona ordinario?             

DIOS QUIERE LLEVARTE MÁS ALLÁ DE LO ORDINARIO, A LO EXCEPCIONAL:

En tiempos bíblicos, la lepra era una enfermedad mortal que asolaba a muchos. La regla general era que quien la contraía moría. Naamán fue la excepción. Era comandante del ejército (líder) y servía al rey de Aram (bajo mando). Estaba en una posición de liderazgo y también bajo el mando de otros. Algo parecido a lo que nos sucede a nosotros. Siempre habrá áreas en nuestra vida donde necesitemos ser líderes y otras donde debamos estar bajo el mando de otros. Una de las primeras cosas que nos llevará más allá de lo ordinario, a lo excepcional, es la combinación de nuestra capacidad para liderar y seguir. Cuando Jesús se dispuso a enseñar sobre liderazgo, tomó una toalla y comenzó a lavar los pies de sus discípulos. Aunque tenía todo el poder en el cielo y en la tierra para mover montañas y realizar milagros, comenzó sirviendo.

Lo opuesto a ser un siervo es ser perezoso. Algo que a menudo olvidamos es que ninguno de los discípulos era perezoso. Eran pescadores, un recaudador de impuestos, etc. He oído a gente decir: "Estoy esperando a que Dios me abra las puertas para poder hacer algo por Él". Les digo: "Bueno, ¿estás listo para ponerte manos a la obra y empezar a servir en las pequeñas cosas?" "Oh, no, estoy esperando a Dios". Lo que he descubierto es que Dios no llama a los perezosos. Espera hasta que estés en medio de servirle en las pequeñas cosas. Nos interrumpe, nos perturba, llama a la gente ocupada y te lleva de aquí para allá. Llama a la gente de acción. Aquellos que están al mando sobre ti son los que realmente pueden decir si eres fiel o no. Naamán tenía el respeto de quienes estaban por encima de él. Cuando tus superiores te tengan en alta estima dice mucho; tu testimonio vale más que tu dinero. En el ámbito laboral actual, muchas personas harían cualquier cosa por dinero, por un aumento o por un ascenso, incluso a costa de sacrificar su testimonio. Pero todo el dinero del mundo no puede comprar la integridad. Naamán era un hombre valiente; se mantenía firme y decidido al luchar por lo que es correcto.

DIOS QUIERE LLEVARTE DE LO ORDINARIO A LO EXTRAORDINARIO:

Si aspiras a ser extraordinario, debes rodearte de personas extraordinarias. Necesitas caminar junto a alguien que te desafíe. Debemos examinar nuestra hambre espiritual: ¿tienes hambre de hacer más por Dios o te sientes satisfecho? También debemos evaluar nuestra pasión: ¿está tu corazón realmente puesto en las cosas de Dios?

Para llegar a ser extraordinario, primero debes superar grandes obstáculos. Naamán era un hombre formidable. La nación entera había sido librada gracias a él. Era un hombre valeroso y poderoso; fuerte, grande e impresionante. Era un hombre de guerra, capitán del ejército. La gente lo admiraba. Sabía cómo triunfar y poseía integridad, prestigio, capacidad y tenia capacidad administrativa; sabía liderar, pero tenía lepra. Bajo aquella imponente armadura, se ocultaba un hombre consumido por la enfermedad.

En el camino de lo ordinario a lo extraordinario, siempre encontrarás un gran obstáculo. No puedes cruzar ese puente sin antes vencer una dificultad mayor. Las pruebas son el medio que te conduce a niveles superiores de fe en Dios. No existe nadie que haya logrado éxitos extraordinarios en la vida sin haber pasado por grandes adversidades.

Job perdió todo lo que tenía y fue abandonado por las personas más cercanas a él. Abraham estuvo dispuesto a sacrificar al hijo de la promesa. José fue vendido como esclavo y rechazado por su propia familia. Daniel fue arrojado al foso de los leones. Sadrac, Mesac y Abed-nego fueron echados a un horno de fuego. Sin pruebas, eres una persona ordinaria; ¡las pruebas te moldean, te transforman y te distinguen de los demás!

Naamán era grande y poderoso, pero tenía lepra. Puede que la gente te vea como una persona de gran potencial, pero luego añade un “pero” que actúa como reserva. Es un gran hombre, pero es inseguro. Es una gran mujer, pero habla demasiado. Es un gran líder, pero no sabe seguir a otros. Es una mujer de gran fe, pero no logra llevarse bien con los demás.

No nos gusta que la gente hable de nuestros obstáculos; por eso nos ponemos cascos y corazas para ocultarlos. Naamán tenía un obstáculo importante: hasta ese momento, nadie había sido sanado de lepra. Dios quiere hacerte extraordinario. Por eso, a veces te colocará en una situación de la que nadie antes ha logrado salir.

DIOS QUIERE LLEVARTE MÁS ALLÁ DE LO ORDINARIO HACIA LA UNCIÓN: (2 Reyes 5:10-14)

1. Naamán era un gran hombre y un gran líder, pero Dios quería convertirlo en un líder ungido.

2. La unción fluye desde la cabeza hacia abajo. No eres verdaderamente grande hasta que Dios pone Su unción sobre ti.

3. La visión no es nuestra; es la visión que Dios tiene para nosotros. Dios quiere hacer grandes cosas a través de nosotros. Dios quiere llevarnos más allá del éxito hacia la significancia. Dios quiere llevarnos más allá de la provisión hacia la posesión. Dios quiere llevarnos más allá de lo ordinario hacia la unción.

4. Son asombrosos los planes que Dios tiene para su Iglesia y para cada uno de nosotros. Es increíble la forma en que Dios dispone todo en su lugar, utilizando a personas con diferentes dones y habilidades para que encajen en el gran rompecabezas.

LA UNIDAD TRAE UNCIÓN: (Salmo 133:1, 2)

Al observar la historia de Naamán, veo trabajo en equipo. Primero, Dios usó a la criada de la esposa de Naamán para sugerir que él fuera a ver al profeta en Samaria. Y luego (v. 13), los siervos de Naamán acudieron a él y le instaron a hacer lo que el profeta había dicho. A veces, solo necesitamos una pequeña palabra de ánimo para hacer aquello que nos corresponde. Eso fue lo que los siervos hicieron por Naamán. A esto lo llamo trabajo en equipo, y el trabajo en equipo trae unción.

Puede que algunos de ustedes sientan que su don espiritual es el de ayuda, realizando labores entre bastidores. Quizás piensen que ese papel carece de importancia, pero no es así. Su función en la expansión de la visión es de vital importancia.

He aprendido que, si quieres que Dios te use poderosamente, debes rodearte de hombres y mujeres de gran fe, deseosos de alcanzar un nivel superior; personas que te amen y crean en ti a pesar de los obstáculos. La criada de la esposa de Naamán vio el defecto de Naamán y, aun así, creyó en él. Vio su lepra y siguió creyendo que Dios lo usaría. No llegarás muy lejos si trabajas con personas que, ante los problemas, salen corriendo. ¡La unción requiere humildad!

LESSON 3

BEYOND ORDINARY

 II Kings 5:1-3, 8-14

 

A man was visiting a small town one day, and talking with the mayor. He asked the mayor, "Have any great or famous men or women ever been born in this city?" The mayor responded, "No, in this city only ordinary babies are born. But there have been a few who have gone on to greatness."

Within the heart of each man and woman that God has created lays a limitless world of possibilities. When God creates things, He does it right. When God created you, He created you right and with great potential. Experts have said that most individuals use about 5% of their brain. 95% goes unused during the lifetime of the average individual. Great potential, little or no results! Ordinary people live ordinary lives, doing ordinary things, and die ordinary deaths, unaltered and unchanged. That kind of sounds boring!

One reason why God doesn't want us to be just ordinary is because no one is interested in following ordinary people. People don't pay much attention to the ordinary. The press doesn't write about the ordinary. Books are not written about the ordinary. Movies are not made about the ordinary. Jesus said that we are to be the salt of the earth. In other words, we must add flavor and be different and go beyond just ordinary. The ordinary, as Jesus would say, are like salt that has lost its flavor.

One of the worst things in life would be to be on your death bed and realize that you have made no difference in the life of anyone. God desires to take you beyond ordinary. Not too long ago, someone asked me, "Brother, you've been through so much over the years, have you ever considered being satisfied with what God has done through you in your 50 years of ministry, and walking away and just being an ordinary person?"

 

GOD WANTS TO TAKE YOU BEYOND ORDINARY TO EXCEPTIONAL:

 

In Biblical days, a deadly disease of leprosy was a major problem. And the rule of thumb was that anyone who contracted leprosy died. Naaman was an exception to the rule. Naaman was a commander of the army (leader), and served under the king of Aram (under leadership). He was in leadership and under leadership. Kind of like you and I. There will always be areas in our life when we need to be a leader, and other areas in your life where we must be under leadership. One of the first things that will take us beyond ordinary to exceptional is the combination of our ability to both lead and follow. When Jesus was ready to teach on leadership, he got a towel and began to wash the feet of the disciples. Even though He had all power in heaven and on earth to move mountains and perform miracles, He began by serving.

The opposite of being a servant is being lazy. One thing that we often fail to realize is that none of the disciples were lazy. They were fishermen, a tax collector, etc. I've heard people say, "I'm waiting on God to open the doors for me so I can do something for Him.” I tell them, "Well, are you ready to get busy and to start serving in the little things?" "Oh, no, I'm waiting on God." What I have found is that God doesn't call the lazy. He waits until you are in the middle of serving Him in the little things. He interrupts us, He disrupts us, He calls busy people and He takes you here and takes you there. He called people of action. Those in leadership over you are the ones who can truly say whether you are faithful or not. Naaman had the respect of those over him. When the people over you regard you highly, that speaks a whole lot. Your testimony means more than your money. Many people in today's work place will do anything for money, anything for a raise, anything for a promotion even if it means giving up their testimony. But all the money in the world will not buy you integrity. Naaman was a courageous man. He stood tall and valiant when fighting for what is right.

 

GOD WANTS TO TAKE YOU BEYOND ORDINARY TO EXTRA ORDINARY:

 

If you are going to be extra ordinary, then you must hang around extra ordinary people. You've got to walk with someone who challenges you. We need a hunger check. Are you hungry to do more for God, or are you satisfied? We need a passion check. Is your heart really in the things of God?

Before you can become extra ordinary, you must overcome major obstacles. Naaman was an awesome man. The whole nation had been delivered because of Naaman. He was a mighty man of valor. He was strong. He was great. He was impressive. He was a man of war. He was the captain of the host. The people admired him. He knew how to win, he had integrity, he had stature, he had ability, he had administrative skills, and he knew how to lead, but he had leprosy. Underneath that impressive looking armor was a disease-stricken man.

Somewhere between ordinary and extra ordinary will be a major obstacle. You cannot cross the bridge of ordinary to extra ordinary until you conquer a major obstacle. Trouble is the usher that takes you to higher levels of faith in God. You cannot show me anyone who has accomplished extra ordinary feats in life, who had not gone through major adversity.

Job lost all he had, and was deserted by the ones who were closest to him. Abraham was willing to sacrifice his promised son. Joseph was sold into slavery and discarded by his family. Daniel was thrown in a den of lions. Shardrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown into a fiery furnace. Without trials, you are ordinary, trials shape you and reconfigures you and sets you apart from other people!

Naaman was great and powerful, but he had leprosy. People may see you as a person of great potential, but then they put the qualifier. He's a great man, but he's insecure. She's a great woman, but she talks too much. He's a great leader, but he's a poor follower. She's a tremendous believer, but she can't get along with people.

We don't like people talking about our obstacles. So we put helmets on and breastplates to hide our obstacle. Naaman had a major obstacle. Up to that point, no one had ever been healed of leprosy. God wants to make you extra ordinary. So sometimes, He will put you in a situation that no one before has ever got out of.

 

GOD WANTS TO TAKE YOU BEYOND ORDINARY TO BEING ANOINTED: (II Kings 5:10-14)

 

1. Naaman was a great man, a great leader, but now, God wanted to make Naaman an anointed leader.

2. The anointing flows from the head down. You are not great until God places His anointing on you.

3. The Vision is not our vision; it's God's vision for us. God wants to do great things through us. God wants to take us beyond success to significance. God wants to take us beyond provision to possession. God wants to take us beyond ordinary to anointed.

4. It is amazing the plans God has for his Church, and for each of us. It is amazing the way God orchestrates everything into place, using individuals with different gifts and abilities to fit into the larger puzzle.

UNITY BRINGS ANOINTING: (Psalm 133:1, 2)

 

When we look at the story of Naaman, I see teamwork. First, God used Naaman's wife servant to suggest that Naaman go to the prophet in Samaria. And then, (v.13) Naaman's servants went to him and told him to do what the prophet said. Sometimes, we just need a little word of encouragement to do something that we are supposed to do. That's what Naaman's servants did for Naaman. I call this teamwork and teamwork brings anointing.

Some of you may feel that your spiritual gift is the gift of helps, doing something behind the scenes. You may feel that role is of little importance, that is not so. Your role in enlarging the vision is vitally important.

I have learned that if you want God to use you greatly, you must surround yourself with men and women of great faith, just waiting to go to a higher level, people who love you, people who believe in you despite your obstacle. Naaman's wife maid servant saw the flaw in Naaman, and still believed in him. She saw his leprosy and still believed that God was going to use him. You are not going to go very far if you are working with people who see trouble and run.  Anointing requires humility!

MÁS ALLÁ DE LA PROVISIÓN

Josué 1:1-11; 5:12

En el primer capítulo de Josué, Dios comienza a preparar a Josué y al pueblo de Israel para lo que está por venir. Él está preparando el terreno. Dios sabía que muy pronto tomarían posesión de la Tierra Prometida, pero necesitaban poner algunas cosas en orden. Necesitaban ordenar sus vidas.

Dios nos está preparando para grandes cosas que han de venir. Antes de entrar en detalles sobre el crecimiento futuro de la iglesia, debemos prepararnos espiritualmente. Él desea hacer de tu cuerpo un templo del Espíritu Santo.

DIOS QUIERE LLEVARNOS MÁS ALLÁ DE LA PROVISIÓN HACIA LA PROMESA: (v. 6)

Dios es un Dios de promesas. Dios es el gran Arquitecto y Planificador. Él hace todo bajo sus propios términos, conforme a su voluntad y según sus tiempos. Él tenía un plan para el pueblo de Israel. Después de la muerte de Moisés, el plan de Dios no se murió. Dios estaba decidido a llevarlo a cabo. Dios seguía teniendo un plan para el pueblo de Israel. Los planes de Dios siempre triunfan. La pregunta no es: "¿Se cumplirá el gran plan de Dios?" La pregunta es: "¿Formarás parte de él?" Cuando Dios hace una promesa, siempre es fiel en cumplirla. De una forma u otra, se llevará a cabo.

Fue en ese momento cuando Dios levantó a un hombre llamado Josué para que llevara adelante su plan. Cuando Dios pone en marcha su plan, ningún demonio ni fuerza del mal tiene el poder de vencerlo. "El que comenzó en vosotros la buena obra, la perfeccionará hasta el día de Jesucristo" (Filipenses 1:6).

La ​​palabra de Dios para Josué y el pueblo de Israel fue: "Esfuérzate y sé valiente. Dondequiera que vayas, allí estaré yo para dirigirte, guiarte y bendecirte". Cuando Dios quiere bendecir a su pueblo, primero lo prepara. Dios ve mucho más allá de lo que nosotros podemos ver. Dios es un Dios de visión. Él sabe lo que nos espera a ti y a mí, y nos prepara para lo que ha de venir.

ENGRANDECER TU VISIÓN: CONFIANDO TU FUTURO A DIOS:

Cuando damos nuestros primeros pasos en el Señor, empezamos a conocer a Dios como Jehová Jireh, nuestro Proveedor. Alabado sea Dios, porque de una forma u otra, Él siempre proveerá. Experimentamos milagros de provisión divina a diario. Israel vivió algo muy parecido. Se encontraron en el desierto, y allí fue donde comenzaron a conocer a su Dios como su Proveedor. Dios suplió todas sus necesidades y el pueblo sobrevivió literalmente gracias a la mano de Dios. Cuando tenían frío, Dios les proporcionaba una columna de fuego por la noche. Cuando tenían calor, Dios les daba una nube protectora. Cuando tenían sed, Dios les daba agua. Cuando tenían hambre, Dios les enviaba maná del cielo. Cuando enfermaban, Dios los sanaba. El Señor era, en verdad, su Proveedor.

¿Cuántos de nosotros hemos testificado diciendo: “Me quedaba solo un dólar y Dios proveyó para mí”? “El casero se disponía a echarme y, de alguna manera, Dios proveyó en el último momento”. Una y otra vez hemos experimentado a Dios como nuestro Proveedor, y aprendemos esto mientras estamos en el desierto. Pero llegó un momento en que el maná cesó (5:12). ¿Por qué deja Dios de enviar maná?

Debes entender que, cuando te encuentras en los primeros pasos de tu caminar cristiano, ves a Dios obrando milagros y lo experimentas como tu Proveedor; pero cuando Él quiere que madures, verás cómo todo eso se para. ¿Por qué? Porque Dios se está preparando para hacer algo más en su vida. Dios está listo para llevarte a otro nivel. La escuela del Espíritu tiene que empezar. Dios está listo para llevarte más allá de la provisión. Cuando tus milagros cesan, es señal de que estás listo para pasar al siguiente nivel.

Algunos cristianos dicen: "Dios, algo va mal. ¿Qué está pasando, Señor? No veo el milagro que necesito. El cheque que necesito no ha caído del cielo". Y se quejan a Dios y se quejan a la gente. Cuando alguien se queja de esta manera, simplemente significa que está apegado al desierto. Es como un niño que todavía quiere beber de su biberón. Dios quiere destetarte del biberón. Dios quiere llevarte más allá de la provisión. Él no quiere que te quedes en el desierto. Dios tiene cosas mejores para ti que permanecer en el desierto.

DIOS QUIERE LLEVARNOS MÁS ALLÁ DE LA PROVISIÓN HACIA EL PROGRESO: (1:7-9)

En Josué 5:12, la Biblia dice que el maná cesó. En otras palabras, Dios les decía a los israelitas: "Ya no voy a ser tu sirviente". "Soy un Dios demasiado grande para mantenerlos en un nivel de infancia. Es hora de que crezcas." Tu infancia tiene que llegar a su fin y tiene que comenzar la escuela del Espíritu.

Ahora que has recibido suficiente provisión, alimento espiritual y ministerio, es hora de seguir adelante. No te decepciones porque no tengas todo lo que deseas; Dios se está preparando para hacer algo nuevo contigo.                           

EL PROGRESO REQUIERE:

DISCIPLINA

Necesitamos una actitud como la del estudiante universitario que pasa la noche en vela estudiando para sus exámenes finales, bebiendo diez tazas de café, preocupándose  y clamando al Señor: "Señor, necesito un milagro". No necesitas un milagro; necesitabas haber estudiado. No esperes que Dios haga algo que tú no hiciste por pereza.

No necesitas un milagro para pagar el alquiler; necesitas un trabajo. No necesitas un milagro, necesitas autodisciplina. “Oh, Señor, realmente necesito un carro, pero tengo mal crédito. Cuando el agente de crédito mire su computadora, tú cierras los ojos y oras: "Oh Dios, ciega sus ojos; no dejes que vea mi mal historial crediticio". No necesitas un milagro; necesitas empezar a administrar bien tu dinero y pagar tus cuentas.

Muchos cristianos desperdician años valiosos de su vida esperando otro milagro de Dios, cuando Dios quiere llevarte más allá de la provisión hacia el progreso; pero tú no quieres avanzar. Dios quiere llevarte de un nivel al siguiente. Dios quiere llevarte del nivel del “dame, dame” al nivel de dar.

¿Por qué es que personas de la misma iglesia pueden reaccionar de forma tan diferente ante la Palabra de Dios y el desafío que El nos plantea? Todos escuchan el mismo mensaje. Se les ministra de la misma manera. Esto se debe a que algunas personas escuchan la palabra de Dios y actúan en acuerdo con ella. Otras, en cambio, solo escuchan la palabra, pero no actúan.

Tomemos como ejemplo el diezmo. Algunas personas escuchan la Palabra de Dios cuando habla de darle el diezmo, pero no quieren hacerlo. Piensan que no podrán pagar sus cuentas y vivir con el 90 % restante. Entonces se ven viviendo al día, de sueldo en sueldo, y pidiendo a Dios un milagro tras otro. Están estancados en el desierto.

Luego están aquellos que dan pasos de valentía y entregan a Dios lo que le pertenece. Entonces Dios provee para ellos, los bendice y los lleva a otro nivel. Así, pueden ser una bendición para otros, porque Dios los ha llevado más allá de la provisión hacia el progreso.

Es hora de madurar. Es hora de dejar que Dios te destete de tu biberón espiritual (1 Corintios 13:12). Hay muchos que llevan años siendo cristianos bebés. Se niegan a madurar. Se niegan a pasar de la provisión al progreso. Dios nos dice a cada uno de nosotros individualmente: "Es hora de pasar al siguiente nivel".

Muchos han pasado al siguiente nivel. Pero hay quienes no han dado el paso al siguiente nivel. Dios está llevando a su Iglesia a un nivel superior, y hay quienes no están subiendo. No todo el mundo va a querer subir. No todos querrán salir de su zona de confort. Pero no podemos permitir que unas pocas personas frenen a la iglesia de Dios o la visión que Él tiene para ella.

SACRIFICIO

Para algunos, dar diez dólares por encima del diezmo resulta un sacrificio. Ganas el salario mínimo o algo cercano a ello, tienes cuentas que pagar y alimentos que comprar, y esos diez dólares extra representan un sacrificio. Dios honrará tu sacrificio. Pero hay otros que ganan mucho más que eso y, sin embargo son tacaños con su dinero. No quieres sacrificarte; les duele dar. Dan diez dólares extra al igual que otros hermanos que se sacrifican, y ellos reciben una recompensa, mientras que ellos no. Si quieres ir más allá de la provisión hacia el progreso, tendrás que hacer sacrificios.

VALENTÍA

El Señor dijo al pueblo: "Esfuérzate y sé valiente". Se necesitará valentía para alcanzar un nivel superior de madurez espiritual. Se necesitará valentía para fortalecer el ámbito de tu ministerio. Se necesitará valentía para fortalecer al resto del cuerpo de Cristo.

DIOS QUIERE LLEVARTE MÁS ALLÁ DE LA PROVISIÓN HACIA LA POSESIÓN: (Josué 1:10-11)

Preparen sus provisiones. El Señor dice: "Iglesia, preparen sus recursos". Si están dispuestos a dar, entonces estarán listos para tomar posesión de la tierra. Es hora de que preparemos nuestras provisiones, porque Dios quiere hacer algo con ellas. Es hora de ir más allá de la provisión hacia la posesión.

Es hora de recuperar lo que el enemigo te ha robado. Muchos creen que lo único que el enemigo les ha robado son sus recursos y sus bendiciones. Aunque eso es cierto, debemos ser conscientes de que el enemigo también nos roba años valiosos de nuestras vidas. Algunos han perdido años de su vida en el desierto. Han sido salvos y han servido a Dios, pero han vivido durante años estancados en el nivel de la provisión. Pero ahora, Dios quiere llevarlos a un nuevo nivel, más allá de la provisión, hacia la posesión. ¡Es hora de recuperar esos años!

BEYOND PROVISION

Joshua 1:1-11, 5:12

In the first chapter of Joshua, God begins to prepare Joshua and the people of Israel for what is to come. He is setting the stage. God knew that very soon they would take hold of the Promised Land, but they needed to get some things in order. They needed to get their lives in order.

I believe God is preparing us for some great things to come. Before we can get into any details of future church growth, we must prepare ourselves spiritually. He desires to make your body a temple of the Holy Spirit.

GOD WANTS TO TAKE US BEYOND PROVISION TO PROMISE: (v. 6)

God is a God of promise. God is the great Master Planner. He does everything on His terms, according to His will, and according to His time table. He had a plan for the people of Israel. After Moses died, God’s plan did not die. God was committed to see it through. God still had a plan for the people of Israel. God’s plans will always succeed. The question is not, “Will God’s Master Plan be completed?” The question is, “Will you be a part of it?” When God makes a promise; He is always faithful to fulfill it. Somehow, some way, it will be done.

It was at this time that God raised up a man named Joshua to be the man to carry forth His plan. When God sets His plan is motion, no devil, or no force of evil has the power to overcome his plan. “He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6).

God’s Word to Joshua and the people of Israel was ‘be strong and courageous. Wherever you go, I will be there to lead you, guide you and bless you.” When God wants to bless His people, He first prepares His people. God sees things far ahead of what we can see. God is a vision-minded God. He knows what lies ahead for you and me and He prepares us for what is to come.

ENLARGING YOUR VISION: BY TRUSTING GOD WITH YOUR FUTURE:

When we first start out in the Lord, we begin to know God as Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. Praise God that He somehow, someway will always provide. We experience miracles of God provision every day. Israel experienced much of the same. They found themselves in the wilderness, and that is where they began to know their God as their Provider. God provided for all of their needs and the people literally survived by the hand of God. When they were cold, God provided a pillar of fire by night. When they were hot, God provided a cloud above. When they got thirsty, God provided water for them. When they were hungry, God provided manna from heaven. When they were sick, God healed them. The Lord was indeed their provider.

How many of us have testified that, “I was down to my last dollar, and God provided for me. “My landlord was getting ready to evict me and somehow, God provided at the last minute.” Time after time, we have experienced God as our Provider, and we learn this while we are in the wilderness. But there came a time when the manna ceased (5:12). Why does God stop sending manna?

You need to understand that when you are in the early stage of your Christian walk, you see God performing miracles, you experience Him as your Provider, but when He wants you to mature, you’re going to see those things stop. Why; because God is getting ready to do something else. God is ready to take you to another level. The school of the spirit has to begin. God is ready to take you beyond provision. When your miracles dry up, it’s an indication that you’re ready to graduate to the next level.

Some Christians say, “God, there is something wrong. What’s happening, Lord? I don’t see that miracle that I need. The check that I need hasn’t fallen from the sky.” And they complain to God and complain to people. When someone complains in this manner it simple means that they are hooked on the wilderness. It’s like a five year old child who still wants to drink from his bottle. God wants to wean you from the bottle. God wants to take you beyond provision. He does not want you to stay in the wilderness. God has greater things for you than staying in the wilderness.

GOD WANTS TO TAKE US BEYOND PROVISION TO PROGRESS: (1:7-9)

But in Joshua 5:12, The Bible says that the manna stopped. In other words, God was telling the Israelites, “I’m not going to be your butler no more.” “I’m too big of a God to keep you at a level of infancy. It’s time to grow up.” Your childhood has to come to an end and the school of the spirit has to begin.

Now that you’ve received enough provision and enough spiritual food and enough ministry, it’s time to move on. Don’t get bent out of shape because you don’t have everything that you want; God is preparing to do a new thing with you.

PROGRESSION REQUIRES:

DISCIPLINE

We need in our lives like the college student who stays up all night studying for his finals, drinking 10 cups of coffee, worrying and crying out to the Lord, “Lord, I need a miracle.” You don’t need a miracle, you need to have studied. Don’t depend on God to do something that you didn’t do because you were lazy.

You don’t need a miracle to pay the rent, you need a job. You don’t need a miracle, you need self-discipline. “Oh, Lord, I really need a car, but my credit is bad. When that loan officer looks at his computer, you close your eyes and pray; oh God block his eyes; don’t let him see my bad credit.” You don’t need a miracle, you need to start being a good steward of your money and pay your bills.

Many Christians are wasting precious years of their life, waiting for another miracle from God. When God wants to take you beyond provision to progress; but you don't want to go. God wants to take you from one level to the next. God wants to take you from the 'give me, give me' level, to the giving level.

Why is it that people from the same church can react so differently to God's Word and God's challenge? They hear the same message. They are ministered to in the same way. It's because some people hear the word of God and act upon it. Others just hear the word, and don't act upon it.

Let's take tithing for example. Some people hear the word of God when it speaks about giving God our first fruits, and giving Him the tenth, but they don't want to do it. They think that they will not be able to pay their bills and live on the 90%. Then they find themselves living paycheck to paycheck, and asking God for miracle after miracle. They are stuck in the wilderness. Then there are those who take steps of courage and give God what belongs to Him. Then God provides for them, and God blesses them, and then God takes them to another level. Then, they are able to be a blessing to someone else because God has taken them beyond provision to progress.

It's time to grow up. It's time to let God wean you from your spiritual bottle (I Cor. 13:12). There are many who have been baby Christians for years. They refuse to grow up. They refuse to go beyond provision to progress. God is telling each of us as individuals, "It's time to go to the next level."

Many have gone to the next level. But there are those who haven’t moved to the next level. God is taking his church to a higher level, and some are not climbing. Not everyone is going to want to climb. Not everyone is going to want to get out of their comfort zone. But we cannot allow a few people to hold back God's church or God's vision for His church.

SACRIFICE

For some, it's a sacrifice to give ten dollars above your tithe. You're earning minimum wage or close to it, and you've got bills to pay and groceries to buy, and that extra ten dollars is a sacrifice. God will honor you for your sacrifice. But there are others who are making much more than that and there being stingy with their money. You don't want to sacrifice, it hurts you to give. You give an extra ten dollars like other brothers who are sacrificing and there’re getting a return and you're not. If you want to go beyond provision to progress, it's going to take sacrifice.

COURAGE

The Lord told the people, 'be strong and courageous. It's going to take courage to reach up to a higher level of spiritual maturity. It's going to take courage to strengthen the realm of your ministry. It's going to take courage to strengthen the rest of the body of Christ

GOD WANTS TO TAKE YOU BEYOND PROVISION TO POSSESSION: (Joshua 1:10, 11)

Get your supplies ready. The Lord is saying, 'get your resources ready, church.' If you are willing to give, then you will be ready to possess the land. It's time for us to get our supplies ready, because God wants to do something with them. It's time to go beyond provision to possession.

It's time to take back possession of what the enemy has stolen from you. Many of you believe that the only thing the enemy has stolen from you is your resources and your blessings. While that is true, we must realize that the enemy also steals precious years of our lives. Some have lost years of their life in the wilderness. You've been saved. You've been serving God, but you've been living on the level of provision for years. But now, God wants to take you to a new level from beyond provision to possession. It's time to take those years back!

Al estudiar la vida de José, podemos descubrir algunos secretos para alcanzar el éxito. José poseía muchas cualidades excelentes: carácter, liderazgo, valentía, determinación, visión, perseverancia y fe. Confiaba en Dios para todo. Fue rechazado por su familia, pero gracias a su fe firme, logró mantenerse fiel a Dios.

Hoy en día, el mundo se enfoca mucho en el éxito. Las personas que nos rodean evalúan nuestras vidas a base a nuestro éxito. Mientras que no hay nada de malo en el éxito. Dios desea llevarnos a un nivel más alto. Más allá de la perspectiva humana del éxito. Dios quiere que dediquemos nuestra vida a dejar una huella significativa en este mundo.      

Dios tenía un plan para José. Dios tiene un plan para ti. Dios tiene un plan para esta iglesia. Quiero animarte a que lleves tu vida espiritual a un nivel más alto. Dios no quiere que seamos mediocres. Quiero animaros a que os imaginéis grandes cosas para Dios. Quiero animaros a que seáis una iglesia que tenga un gran impacto en esta comunidad.

 En la vida de José podemos ver tres principios que nos muestran cómo Dios puede llevarnos más allá del éxito, tanto a nivel individual y como iglesia, para convertirnos en personas significativas e influyentes.    

SUEÑA HACIA EL FUTURO:

Cuando José soñaba, no se trataba de fantasías pasajeras. Era un joven con un gran sueño; tenía una visión de lo que Dios podía hacer en su vida (Génesis 37).

Un sueño (o visión) es el medio que Dios utiliza para obrar en tu vida. Cuando no tienes sueños ni visión, no produces nada ni llevas nada a cabo. Los sueños y las visiones son el lenguaje que Dios utiliza para comunicarse con nosotros. Si no tenemos sueños o visiones, Él no puede comunicarse con nosotros. En la Biblia, siempre que Dios quería hacer algo por alguien, primero les inspiraba visiones y sueños en sus corazones.

¿Qué es la visión? La visión es la capacidad de ver el plan de Dios, el propósito de Dios y la provisión de Dios, a pesar de las circunstancias. Antes de que José fuera vendido como esclavo, Dios ya había puesto visiones y sueños en su corazón. A través de esas visiones y sueños, Dios acabó por superar todas las circunstancias que habían ocurrido en su vida.

Aunque José era un joven que soñaba con grandes bendiciones de Dios, debes comprender que nunca se es demasiado mayor para soñar cosas grandes para Dios. El libro de Joel nos dice que incluso nuestros ancianos tendrán sueños (Joel 2:28-32; Hechos 2:17).

Dios busca hombres y mujeres que sepan quiénes son y hacia dónde van. Para algunos, soñar parece una tontería para algunos si se hace sin metas. Cuando estableces una meta y comienzas a soñar con ella, Dios hará realidad ese sueño.

Dios quiere darte un sueño. Por naturaleza, tendemos a poner límites a Dios. Mucha gente está a favor de lo que Dios está haciendo, pero debemos formar parte de lo que Dios está haciendo.

TRES NUNCAS PARA LOS SOÑADORES:

1. Nunca uses tu edad o tu pasado como excusa para no soñar en grande para Dios.

2. Nunca dudes, en la incertidumbre, de lo que Dios te ha prometido con claridad.

3. Nunca dudes del poder de Dios para hacer lo imposible.

CREE EN TI MISMO:

Dios tiene un llamado especial para tu vida. Eres especial para Él. Eres hijo del Dios Altísimo. Debes comprender tu propia identidad única en Cristo. José se dio cuenta de que era único. Dios llamó a José para una tarea especial. Y así como Dios le dio a José una túnica de muchos colores, Dios te ha revestido con un manto de majestad. Eres especial para Él. Debes darte cuenta de lo único e importante que eres para Dios; Dios te ama (1 Pedro 2:9). Dios no nos ama porque seamos valiosos; somos valiosos porque Dios nos ama.

Debemos creerle a Dios si queremos obtener lo que pedimos, aquello con lo que soñamos. Y debemos pronunciar palabras de fe. Nunca debemos hablar en términos negativos (“no puedo”, “no tengo los recursos económicos”, etc.). Si dependemos de Dios, no dependemos de nuestras propias fuerzas o recursos; dependemos de los recursos de Dios.

ELÉVATE POR ENCIMA DE LAS CIRCUNSTANCIAS:

Después de que José tuviera grandes sueños para Dios, se enfrentó a grandes dificultades. Pero su fe le mantuvo fuerte. La frase clave a lo largo de su historia fue: “Dios estaba con José”.

Podría haberse rendirse. Nadie le habría culpado por rendirse. Pero nunca habríamos oído hablar de Joseph si lo hubiera rendido. Se propuso ir más allá del éxito; se propuso dejar una huella significativa en el mundo que le rodeaba. Si le hiciera la siguiente pregunta: ¿Cuándo fue el momento de tu vida en el que tu te sentisteis más cerca de Dios?, probablemente el 90 % de ustedes diría que sucedió cuando te encontrabais en medio de una crisis grave (Santiago 1:12). A todos nos gusta el éxito. Pero es a través del dolor y las dificultades como más crecemos. Es entonces cuando podemos tener un impacto significativo en la vida de los demás.

Puede que José haya perdido su túnica de muchos colores, pero nunca perdió su integridad. Puede que José haya perdido a su familia, pero nunca perdió su visión. Puede que José haya perdido años de su vida, pero nunca perdió su sueño.

Dios quiere usarte grandemente para Su reino. Dios no ha terminado contigo. Él te ha llamado a hacer grandes cosas. Quiere ampliar la visión que hay en tu corazón. Quiere que formes parte de algo grande. ¿Estás dispuesto a dar el paso y lanzarte por ello?

Al final, no importará el éxito que hayas tenido a los ojos de los hombres. Lo que sí importará es el impacto o la influencia que hayas tenido en la vida de los demás para toda la eternidad.

CINCO PASOS HACIA EL ÉXITO:

1. SÉ UN SOÑADOR

Pregúntate: ¿Cómo me gustaría que fuera mi vida si todo saliera bien? ¡La mayoría de la gente no suena en absoluto, o bien no sueña a lo suficientemente grande!

2. SÉ UN APRENDIZ

La mayoría de las personas fracasan en la vida porque rechazan los consejos de los demás y aceptan los elogios de los necios.

3. CREE EN TI MISMO

La confianza en uno mismo no solo es saludable, sino también contagiosa. El primer paso para que los demás crean en ti es creer en ti mismo.

4. SÉ UN PLANIFICADOR

Quien sabe adónde va y cree que puede llegar allí, encontrará personas que le ayuden a alcanzar sus metas.

5. SÉ TRABAJADOR

El éxito requiere trabajo duro; por eso son tan pocos los que triunfan. La mayoría de la gente prefiere dormir a trabajar.

SUEÑA, APRENDE, CREE, PLANIFICA, TRABAJA y Dios te concederá los deseos de tu corazón. Pues las únicas limitaciones que finalmente te frenarán en la vida serán aquellas que tú mismo te impongas.

BEYOND SUCCESS

By studying the life of Joseph, we can find some secretes for being successful. Joseph had many good qualities: character, leadership, courage, determination, vision, perseverance, and faith. He trusted in God for everything. He was rejected by his family, but because of his strong faith, he was able to continue being faithful to God.

The world today focuses a lot on success. People around us gauge our lives by how ‘successful’ we are. While there is nothing wrong with success. God wants to take us to a higher level. Beyond man’s view of success, God wants us to spend our lives on earth making a significant impact in the lives of others.

God had a plan for Joseph. God has a plan for you. God has a plan for this Church. I want to challenge you to take your spiritual life to a higher level. God does not want us to be mediocre. I want to challenge you to envision big things for God. I want to challenge you to be a church that makes a huge impact on this city.

In the life of Joseph we can see three principles of how God can take us beyond success, as individuals, and as a church, to be people of significance and influence.

DREAM AHEAD:

When Joseph dreamed, it wasn’t day dreaming. Here was a young man with a great dream. He had a dream of what God could do in his life (Gen. 37).

A dream (or vision) is what God uses to do anything for you. When you don’t dream (vision), you won’t produce or do anything. Dreams and visions are the language that God uses to communicate with us. If we don’t have dreams or visions, He can’t communicate with us. In the Bible, whenever God wanted to do anything for anybody, first He put visions and dreams into their hearts.

What is vision? Vision is the ability to see God’s plan, God’s purpose and God’s provision, despite the circumstances. Before Joseph was sold into slavery, God had already put visions and dreams into his heart. Through those visions and dreams God eventually overruled all the circumstances that had occurred in his life.

Although Joseph was a young man who dreamed of big blessings from God, you must realize that you are never too old to dream big things for God. The book of Joel tells us that even our old men shall dream dreams (Joel 2:28-32; Acts 2:17).

God is looking for men and women who know who they are, and where they are going. Dreaming seems foolish to some, if it is done without goals. When you establish a goal and begin to dream for that goal, God will bring that dream to past.

God wants to give you a dream. By nature, we tend to limit God. Many people are for what God is doing, but we must be with what God is doing.

THREE NEVERS FOR DREAMERS:

1. Never use your age or your past as an excuse for not dreaming big things for God.

2. Never doubt in the dark what God has promised in the light.

3. Never doubt the power of God to do the impossible.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF:

God has a special calling upon your life. You are special to Him. You are a child of the Most High God. You must understand your own uniqueness in Christ. Joseph realized that he was unique. God called Joseph for a special task. And just as God gave Joseph a coat of many colors, God has placed a coat of royalty upon you. You are special to Him. You must realize just how unique and important you are to God; God loves you (I Peter 2:9). God doesn’t love us because we are valuable; we are valuable because God loves us.

We must believe God if we are going to get what we ask for, what we are dreaming for. And we must speak the believing word. We must never speak in negative terms (I can’t, I don’t have the finances, etc.). If we are depending on God, we are not depending on our own strength or resources. We are depending on God’s resources.

RISE ABOVE:

Right after Joseph dreamed big things for God, he faced major adversity. But his faith kept him strong. The key phrase throughout his story was: “God was with Joseph.”

He could have quit. No one would have blamed him for giving up. But we would have never heard of Joseph if he had quit. He purposed to go beyond success; he purposed to make a significant impact in the world around him. If I were to ask you the question: “When was the time in your life when you grew closer to God?” Probably 90% of you would say that it happened when you were in the middle of a major crisis (James 1:12). We all enjoy success. But it is through pain and struggles that we grow the most. That’s when we can make a significant impact in the lives of others.

Joseph may have lost his coat of many colors, but he never lost his integrity. Joseph may have lost his family, but he never lost his vision. Joseph may have lost years of his life, but he never lost his dream.

God wants to use you greatly for His kingdom. God is not through with you. He has called you to do great things. He wants to enlarge the vision in your heart. He wants you to be a part of something great. Are you willing to step out and ‘go for it?’

In the end, it won’t matter how successful you were in the eyes of man. But it will matter what kind of impact or influence you made in the lives of others for eternity.

FIVE STEPS TO SUCCESS:

1. BE A DREAMER

Ask yourself, “How would I want life if everything worked out right?” Most people either don’t dream at all or don’t dream big enough!

2. BE A LEARNER

Most people fail in life because they reject the advice of others and accept the flattery of fools.

3. BE A BELIEVER IN YOURSELF:

Self confidence is not only healthy, it is also contagious. The first step toward others believing in you is to believe in yourself.

4. BE A PLANNER

The person who knows where he is going and believes he can get there; will find people to help him to achieve his goals.

5. BE A WORKER

Success is hard work; that’s why so few people succeed. Most people would rather sleep than work.

DREAM, LEARN, BELIEVE, PLAN, WORK and God will grant you the desires of your heart. For the only limitations that will ultimately hold you back in life will be those you place on yourself.
