FATHERS ARE WISE MEN

“My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not his law… For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.” Proverbs 1:8-9
At the age of 5 we say: “My daddy can do anything!”
At the age of 7 we say: “My daddy knows a lot, a whole lot!”
At the age of 10 we say: “My dad doesn't quite know everything.”
At the age of 14 we say: “Oh well, off course dad doesn't know everything.”
At the age of 16 we say: “My father is so old-fashioned.”
At the age of 21 we say: “Oh that man is out of date. What did you expect?”
At the age of 25 we say: “He knows a little bit about it but not much.”
At the age of 30 we say: “I must find out what Dad thinks about it.”
At the age of 50 we say: “What would Dad have thought about it?”
At the age of 60 we say: “I wish I could talk it over with Dad once more.”
Fathers are not perfect although they may not be as imperfect as we think. They get a lot of guff and too little credit. So it is good to have a day when we pause to honor and remember our fathers.
